Staff: Before, you tried out glue gun art where you stuck various items together, but this time you used pliers and took on making accessories, which requires even more delicate work. First, please tell us your thoughts on today’s experience.
Taeyeon: And I thought there was nothing else that could be handmade (laughs), it was a very curious experience knowing that it’s possible to make such delicate accessories. I always just wear them on stage and have never directly made accessories before so it was very enjoyable.
Staff: Before trying it out, you said, “It looks difficult. Maybe it’s better to look at them rather than make them.”
Taeyeon: Yes, I thought that at first, but when I actually tried it out I wanted to make them even more (laughs). After all, I believe that it expresses my own feelings after selecting the design and deciding on the decorations. Depending on the design it reflected my own style and somehow… it seems like it reveals my personality as it is. With those points, it was a little hard to select the items.
Staff: So what do today’s selected items reveal about Taeyeon?
Staff: Do you usually buy accessories?
Taeyeon: Hm…just head bands and hairbands? I don’t like accessories that much…I used to wear earrings a lot, but not recently. I wear a lot of accessories on stage, so on the contrary I usually don’t wear them.
Staff: Please share what were the difficult points and preferences from today.
Taeyeon: It was hardest to make the angles match. It seems like the angle when bending metal is important…. I have had many experiences where decorations accidentally came off and dropped from the metal ring from accessories like earrings. Today, the teacher taught me that it was important to bend the angle well to not leave a space, however that was very difficult.
Staff: There was a lot of materials for accessories prepared, but why did you select the materials used today? Please share why you chose them, such as the color or shape.
Taeyeon: I wanted to make accessories that weren’t sparkly, but with an ethnic feel. I also had the image of them fitting summer, as well as being light and lively.
Staff: If you were to make accessories for yourself, what color and shape would it be?
Taeyeon: I didn’t get to make it, but I like things that shine in the light, so I’d like to make something from a material like sequins. I like cool colors so blue and purple would be nice.
Staff: Why did you choose the gray ribbon as the present for SONE JAPAN?
Taeyeon: I don’t know who will receive the present, so I thought it would be best to go with gray that could go well with anyone. The color was a safe choice, but for the design I went with ribbons that emphasize its cuteness, so I think everyone would like them. I made the ribbon earrings last, so I really enjoyed making them with the momentum I had at the time. My hands got used to the work so I want to make another one (laughs).
Staff: Do you think you’ll try making accessories again?
Taeyeon: Of course. As many as I have the materials for. Because I’m an indoor person (laughs) I’m at home. When I tried out glue gun art last year, I received some tools. I actually made some things at home with a glue gun.
Staff: While working, you said, “This is too fun. What will I do if I stay at home doing this all day and not release the album?”, but how many hours do you think you could concentrate while making these?
Taeyeon: Before, when I was into nail art, there were times when I spent over 5 hours doing it. All day sitting and not speaking. My nature lets me concentrate considerably on one thing, so I believe I can probably spend around 5 hours on the things I learned today.
Staff: If you were to make something original in the image of a group member, what do you think would be a good item? Please share what you would make, including the item, and its color, shape, and material.
Taeyeon: All the members suit pink really well, so I think a pink accessory would be nice. Recently, fur tassels called “pompomi” are popular. I think if I made something using that all the members would be happy. I would have especially liked to give it to Seohyun, whose birthday was some time ago. Seohyun has been very busy with drama filming, etc., so I haven’t been able to see her.
Staff: What kind of scene would you want to wear the accessories you made today? Please add what fashion image would match the scene.
Taeyeon: I think the accessories could be worn on a day with no special limit on concept. They would all fit the fashion similar to what I wore today. It’d be interesting if I wore them at an event where I meet fans because there’d be a meaning. If talking about specific images, the navy feather earrings would suit a bohemian style really well. It probably go well with a crop top and hat. I want to go out somewhere dressed up in something like that (laughs).
Staff: What kind of fashion image would you suggest for the gray ribbon earrings for SONE JAPAN?
Taeyeon: I believe the gray ribbon earrings can be worn regardless of the season, so they’d be great anytime. They would look well with the recently popular crop tops, and look great when matched with cute character T-shirts. Depending on the clothing worn, they would direct a matching feel. They’d be cute matched with a feminine style and T-shirt.
Staff: We want to ask about your usual fashion, but recently what kind of accessories do you usually wear? Please also share why you choose those accessories.
Taeyeon: Recently it rains a lot and there’s a lot of humidity. Because of that I distress about my hair style. So, I have come to like bandannas recently. It’s great how I can go out by just throwing it on. There are bandannas that are made like hair bands, so it’s easy to wear. I wore one while going to the studio yesterday. It was cute (laughs).
Staff: Among members, have you given each other accessories as presents? Please share episodes like if you’ve received an accessory from a member or if you went to buy them together.
Taeyeon: I don’t think we do that… Ah, but I have given a necklace to Tiffany for her birthday. It was a necklace that she wanted, but it was transparent on the inner side, so I got her initials engraved there and gave it to her as a present. But all the members buy the accessories that they like, so I don’t think we really give each other accessories as presents.
Staff: You don’t really wear accessories, but what is something that you absolutely have to have in your bag when you go out?
Taeyeon: I love cosmetics (laughs). I always carry around lip balm. Besides that, I usually carry powder pact and concealer. When I do my own makeup I actually carry a lot more, but when there’s a schedule and makeup is done separately, I just have powder on hand. Also, I absolutely always have hand sanitizer.
Staff: If there’s something that you’re into now or something that you recently collect, please share.
Taeyeon: I’ve been doing various self care such as self massages. I do things like use devices that you can use by yourself to relax while stretching, and muscle massage. I do them every day on a yoga mat while watching TV and listening to music. After all, it’s stress relief and I don’t have time to go to get a massage, so recently I’ve come to do them at home. I know where I hurt the most. I could say this is actually an extension cord for the indoor person (laughs). Stretching by myself at home (laughs)
Staff: Please tell us if there is anything that has become a hot topic among the members recently, or if there is a group activity that left an impression.
Staff: Would you please share your thoughts on your solo concert that was held in May this year and had a live viewing in Japan?
Taeyeon: There was a live viewing for last year’s concert, too. It was too bad I could not give my greetings directly in a closer stage. I have to be very thankful for the SONE JAPAN members who came all the way out to the theaters and listen to my songs. I have to see you all directly next time (laughs). I truly want you all to listen to my songs at a closer venue.
Staff: Heading towards the 10th anniversary, please share if you feel there is anything that has changed you as a group or individually, or have grown from.
Staff: Finally, a message please to SONE JAPAN!
